some new cards
Ok so life has been zooming by at our house without anything really interesting happening. We all are just trying to get to summer vacation as quickly as possible. It will be here soon.
We've been spending the weekends working on the house. I'll have to take pictures later of all our finished and soon to be projects. I love my house!
I haven't been making any scrapbook pages because my stuff is still in boxes all over the house. So, I've been making cards here and there. Here are some of the Father's day cards I made. I've sold 2 of them on etsy already. I guess the other might be Mike's card.

Valentine Day Cupcake Baskets
With some help from Braden, I got all 12 cupcake baskets cut-out, glued together, and decorated in just a few days. Unfortunately since then Braden's class was split into the other kindergarten classes so we'll have to do some editing.

Gift Tags
Jennifer at MBI posted a challenge to use scraps of wrapping paper to make tags for your gifts. Well, I tried but I just couldn't get the wrapping paper and my cardstock scraps to work together. So I just made some tags with my cardstock and pattern paper scraps instead.
If you take a look at the top picture of Randy's picture, you'll see the paper is all wrinkled. Braden did that. He said it made it special wrapping paper. We wrapped Uncle Randy's and Mrs. Sudhoff, his teacher, in the special paper. The longer I look at the more I like it. I think it would look really cute with a burlap ribbon and bow. You know a weathered on purpose look.

New layouts
Last weekend was wonderfully lazy! Which means that I actually had time to make some pages for myself for a change. Here's what I got done. Please pretend that my pictures aren't crooked!
I've had his tassel all summer long but it somehow grew legs and walked away this weekend. When I find which toy box/purse/bucket/drawer it has been stashed in, I'm going to hang it to fill up that empty corner. I just have to find the silly thing.

Cards cards cards
For World Card Making Day MBI is celebrating with a thread of fun challenges. Every time you finish a card challenge this week you get your name entered into a draw for a prize!!! I don't make a lot cards because I'm not very good at actually mailing them but I thought I would tackle a few of the challenges.
I made the turkey card for the die cut challenge. Technically it's not a die cut but a paper piecing. I don't have a die cut machine so I improvised. Isn't he cute. I love making these guys. This is the first one I've made for myself. I usually make them for Thanksgiving layouts that I'm selling.
Inside it says- "a family that gobbles together is happy together."
If you like to make cards then join in the fun! Check out the challenge thread!

A Few Layouts and a Card
This week has zoomed by without anything really interesting happening. So I don't have anything to share. The layout above I made for the savvy scrappers club that I'm in at MBI. This weeks challenge was to use a PageMap sketch to make a layout then use the scraps to make a card. I'll have to share the card later because I don't want the recipient to see it before their birthday.
I finally scrapped a picture from Braden first day. I love my new "K" stamp. I found the set of foam Heidi swapp stamps at Tuesday Morning for $5! I like to use big titles so these stamps are perfect!

6x6 mini album
I made this cute little 6x6 mini album with MBI's August kit. It was featured in the August Newsletter. I loved this project. It is made with just 1 sheet of double sided paper. JUST ONE SHEET.
I designed it with a little hidden page for more pictures or journaling. Here's the link to the MBI University for the step by step instructions and more photos.

@ 3 Scrapbook Page
I started this page days ago but just couldn't seem to get it to come together. I'm still not 100% sure that I really like it but I want to finish it for MBI. I traced Ashlyn's hand onto the cardstock then had her cut up some paper to fill it in with. I colored in her hand with a glue stick then let her fill it in. Braden made one too but I haven't even started a layout with his prints yet.
For more info about this page and/or the products I used check out the baby forum at MBI!!!!
This layout is of course about Ashlyn at 3. The journaling has just some random things about her right now.
-loves the Little Mermaid
-learned to use the potty
-pretends to be Hannah MOntana daily
-love sports
-has a room full of baby dolls and Barbies
Some more things about my sweet 3 year old....
-loves to sing Disney songs in the car (as loud as she can!)
-mac-n-cheese and pop tarts are her favorite foods
-loves purple coke but has to drink milk most of the time
-calls every drink except grape coke "milk"
-makes piles of things around the house.
-never leaves the house without her purse
-still sucks her thumb at bedtime
-spits when she's mad
-thinks everything cost "twinny dolturds" (thats $20 if your not fluent in toddler talk)
-runs to her room, slams the door, and goes to bed when she gets into trouble
I could go on an on but I'm sure by now I'm sounding like the teacher on Charlie Brown so I will stop.
Side note: My mama and her hubby Greg are flying in tomorrow!!! Yippee!!!

Blast off!
One of the crazy challenges this weekend was to use aluminum foil on a layout. I wrapped some chipboard circles that I'd laying around. Now some scrappers will gasp because foil isn't a prepackaged scrapbook product with acid free stamped across the top.I'm not that concerned with acid free. I scrap for me not so much for future generations. If one or two layouts turn yellow then oh well!
These pictures are from the Kennedy Space Center. They have a cute little show called Mad Mission to Mars. It's a really cute kid show with lots of audience interaction. Braden was the lucky kid that was chosen to suit up like an astronaunt and " blast off". He sat in this chair all suited up. A bunch of lights and smoke came out and then up he's chair went up into the air about 8 feet or so and then back down. He was thrilled.
Our family loves the Space Center but I know a lot of people find it boring. I think that's because most people jump onto the buses and go for the tour that takes basically all day. The tour isn't really for kids but if you spend more time at the Visitor Center and the Astronaunt Hall of Fame then it will be more enjoyable.

PageMaps
Here's the first layout I did for the crop. This was a sketch challenge. They are so easy. Aleta pulled a PageMaps sketch for this one. I may do a few more with the sketch before the weekend is over. They make it so fast.
Here's the link to the challenge if you want to check it out. http://memorybookinspirations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=125&t=4944

New Layouts..
Tae Kwon Do Update--- Braden has hung up his belt. He really didn't like it too much and it was becoming very hard to get him there twice a week. We did make him finish his 6 month contract - tried to teach him that finish what you start lesson.
The only regret I have is that he didn't get to test for his yellow belt. The testing was the week after his contract was up. He would have passed his form without any problem too. I feel a little bad about that because he did stick it out and worked hard to learn all his form but he didn't really get rewarded for it. I feel bad.... he's just happy not going anymore.
That being said. I'm sooo glad that it's over. When he started the school was a mile from our house. It took us 2 mintues to get there. After the first week it moved all the way across town so we had to leave 35 minutes early to get there on time and then we had to drive home during rush hour on the 2 craziest roads in town.Another Football Layout. This picture is from last September. That cute little cheerleading uniform is now a outfit for her monkey since it is way to short. (HINT HINT HINT to all my family back home. Subtle right? hee hee.)
This is one of my favorite pictures. I have a copy of it framed her in the family room and Mike has one in his office. They were so happy and having so much fun together. That's back when Braden would play with Ashlyn. He is now in full big brother mode. I hear "GET OUT OF MY ROOM!" ... door slam... & then Ashlyn scream several times a day. ((Sigh)) Last year for Father's Day we drove up to Cocoa to the planetarium. I just scrapped the pictures (a year later) and honestly the only thing I like about it the Anne Griffin journaling block. The planetarium is cool but the lady who works the ticket stand is such a old bag that we don't go very often. It's amazing how someone elses bad attitude can spoil everyone's mood.
This year we didn't do anything spacey for the first time since moving here. In the past we've gone to the Space Center and the Planetarium to celebrate since space is something Mike and Braden both enjoy. This year we went bowling.
That's all I got for today. I'm going to go scrap now. I have a challenge up for the Christmas in July at MBI (link over there---->). In a few days I'll have some fun sneak peeks of the projects I'll be teaching.

Double TAke
Last night I sat down to put my stack of completed layouts into page protectors and albums and while I was working on it I realised that I scrapped the same picture twice. (sigh) The top one I made in Feb and I honestly had totally forgotten about it.
I like the second one better. I think its the big Heidi swapp flowers I bought in the MBI store. Or maybe it's the pink, or the cool patterned paper.... I just like it more. It's interesting to see how differently I could scrap one picture.

Valentine Madness!
Happy be-lated Valentines Day!!! Valentines Day just isn't the same when it falls on a weekday. Mike and I went to a movie but we were so rushed to get there and get back that it wasn't even that enjoyable. We went and saw "Jumper". It was pretty good. It wasn't the most romantic movie to go see but we're parents so really why try! LOL!!! I actually picked that movie because it started early and that was a big requirement. We had to get there and get home so the kids could get to bed.
Braden enjoyed his first school Valentines day party but that's not really a big surprise. He loves holidays. He loves to celebrate. He may be the most festive child on this Earth. I'm glad he is that way though. It makes holidays and birthdays so much more fun.
The layout above was for a color switch challenge at Memory Book Inspirations. (Link over there--->) The challenge was to make a pink Boys layout or a blue girls layout. The pink boys seemed to fit with the holiday.

Soooooooooo Tired!
We stayed up so late last night watching the primary results. I'm dragging today. I've watched every debate (for both parties)and hours and hours of MSNBC trying to decide who I believe in. It's hard to for me to say it being a registered Republican from rurual Arkansas but I think I'm going to vote for Obama if he makes it to the general election.
He still has a battlefield to make it through. It's not easy going against the old donkeys at the top. Oh and Super Delegates? What the........... Repubicans don't have super delegates and there is a good reason why. It is a stupid idea. Supers don't have to vote for those they represent. They can vote for the job that was promised them. I think that is just silly. I want my representatives to vote for me not according to their own personal feelings.
So much for that soap box (like anyone really cares). All you scrapbookers make sure you check out MBI (the links over there ------->). There is a clearance sale going on in the store and lots of challenges and contest.

NEWS NEWS NEWS
I have so much news. I've been out of touch for a little while. Our horrible computer finally died for good. We now have a bright yellow Dell lap top. Yes it's yellow. It's very very very yellow. It's ugly yellow. I personally wanted pink but I couldn't get my hubby to go for that. So he picked his favorite color---- yellow. At least I now have a working computer to work on. And the yellow is starting to grow on me to be honest.
I'm very very excited to be apart of the inspiration team at Memory Book Inspirations.(the link is over there ----->. check it out) I'm the new mod for the Baby Book Forum. You know how sometimes you just feel like your apart of something that is going to be big. That's kind-of how I feel. The site is relatively small but I think the ideas that are coming to reality are going to make the site something special. So make sure you go check it out. Seriously the link is right there ---->
